The End of the Line in Ecuador

We have arrived in Ecuador. From the ends of the earth in ushuaia we have followed the trail of the great Incas, through the high plains of the Andes, along mountain tracks, desert scapes, crossed magical salt plains, visited the mystical Macchu Picchu, marched through rural villages, got lost in sub-tropical forests, along coastal routes until we reached this tiny but very green country.

Ecuador wasn’t always on the itinery, but after much discussion, reflection and research here we are, our main purpose is to volunteer in our respective fields while experiencing life in a much-talked about country.

Otavalo to Cuellaje (return x3) = 200.4 km

Quito to Tena (return) = 358 km

Tena to Jatun Yacu (return) = 32km (approx.)

 

Total km travelled = 2,140.8

Total CO2-e bus = 186 kg

 

Homestay (approx.) = 85 kg

Hostels = 18 kg

 

Total CO2-e for two people = 577 kg
