Experience a City with the Locals

Responsible travel is as much about respect for local communities and getting to know the people that live in them as it is respect for the environment.

One of the best ways to get away from the tourist precincts and experience the real city is to stay with the locals

This has been known for years as ‘homestay’ accommodation, but now there is a website that is bringing ‘homestay’ to the everyday traveller.

Couch Surfing’ is a great way to discover and understand the local culture and see how the real communities live.

When you register to become a ‘couch surfer’ you can also host travellers in your own home, and give something back to the travel community.

There are currently 2,937,516 couch surfers in 246 countries.
